Anywhere from $500-5000. Depends on if you have any content ready for them, or if they’re creating it from scratch. If you want people to be able to order and pay for items from your website, add a couple thousand. Also depends on how many pages you want - for example “home” “gallery” “contact” etc. Many many hours go into creating it. I typically do it for 300-400 and yes it depends on what you want. Many times the exspensive part is because there is a designer who makes the images and such, a copywriter or ghostwriter, and a programmer

I have run into a lot of people that charge an hour per page, so whatever they charge per hour, and how many pages you have.

Your best bet… get down an idea of exactly the features you need and the look you want, in writing.

The most expensive web designer does not always mean the best website in the end. So too, people should not automatically assume that a web designer that does not charge a lot is going to do a bad job. Look through the portfolios of designers that do not charge a lot, and if you’re happy with what you see, then use a “cheap” designer. Some web designers that are not charging a lot may be a one or two man show, may not need to charge a fortune to cover paying staff, and may be worth using even if they take a little longer than a larger company due to less staff. Some web designers charge as little as R200 per page, with some extras like basic organic SEO work thrown in too.
